Robbie Mann is bringing his five piece Jazz band The Parlour Social to Ballarat for a night of stride rhythm, drive and pure joy as they get the joint jumpin’ with Jazz standards and ragtime favourites in Ballarat’s newest art filled event space the iconic Stables, at The Pub With Two Names, Friday April 5th 2019.

The Parlour Social, a seven piece line up from Canberra including Piano – Robbie Mann, Trumpet – Zach Raffan, Trombone – Bill Beasley , Clarinet – Bori Cser, Drums – Richard Opat have dazzled audiences all over Australia.

Stride piano was the infancy of jazz piano, born of Ragtime and nurtured within the debauchery of burlesque houses, brothels and bars. Influenced by Tin Pan Alley — several pianists, primarily in Harlem, began to experiment with a blending of styles in the 1920s.

The Parlour Social have a Stride style they describe as roughly hewn from the rocks of early 20th dance music and lovingly honed to precision. With thick and grimy ballads and white hot rhythms Robbie and his troupe of exceptionally talented musicians will provide a night of rollicking Jazz you will never forget.
