In Full Swing

We’re halfway through Jazz in winter. A program of live jazz performances over two weekends in July for the 2018 Ballarat Winter Festival.

We say thank you to the musicians who ventured to Ballarat for a very snappy few days July 5-8. We were treated to a weekend of Swing, Trad Jazz and contemporary original Jazz.

Ballarat is embracing Jazz this winter. Our second big weekend of Jazz is July 27-29 and includes four very different styles of musical performances.

July 27 – Friday evening with the Georgia Brooks Swingtet at Opulance, for the launch of their new CD With Thee I Swing.

July 28 – Saturday afternoon at the Printers Room downstairs at Sebastiaans in Lydiard Street. The Guitar from Blues to Gypsy Swing with guitarists Mick Trembath, Peter Baylor & Ashley Kluss & Wayne Parker & Barry Deenick.

July 28 – Saturday night is for dancing. The Jackson Four will be expecting a full dance floor. They’re playing at The Miners Tavern with their distinctive style featuring the Hammond B3 organ. Expect lots of New Orleans style and Jazz rhythms.

July 29 – Sunday afternoon at Ballarat Mechanics Institute. Andrea Keller’s Transients will be performing improv and contemporary original Jazz. This anticipated event promises to engage an audience of curious listeners.

Tickets are available online and at the door. Get ready to shake off the winter chills and feel the warmth that is the magic of jazz.
