JAZZ series Spring includes two compelling performances featuring Jazz pianists at the oldest and largest gallery in regional Australia, the Art Gallery of Ballarat. Jazz pianist Jack Walker, a significant emerging talent in Australian Jazz will be playing with his quintet, comprised of alumni and current students of the James Morrison Academy, Hugh Parsons – trumpet, Mitch Wilmot – tenor saxophone, Cameron Eames – double bass and Alex Keser – drums.

Jack is from Ballarat graduating from Ballarat & Clarendon College, he holds a Bachelor of Music from the James Morrison Academy. He has toured the USA and recorded an ARIA nominated album. Jack and his quintet will perform in the Oddie room Saturday 27th October from 4pm, come along to experience the exciting new arrangements they have penned for classic standards.

The second JAZZ series Spring performance at the Art Gallery of Ballarat is a legendary Jazz pianist, at the height of his powers, Bob Sedergreen. Bob Commenced classical music training at the age of 5 and has been actively honing his craft for over 50 years. He was honoured this year being inducted into the Graeme Bell Hall of Fame.

Bob will be performing as a part of a trio, with Jon Chidgey – bass and Sonia Horbelt – drums on Saturday 10th November from 2pm in the Oddie room. It promises to be a thrilling ride of hard driving jazz from the 30’s -Fats Waller & Earl Hines, the 40’s & 50’s Duke Ellington, the 60’s Les McCann & Bobby Timmins, & 70’s with Herbie Hancock, Joe Zawinul & Chick Corea.
