JAZZ series Spring – James Morrison

JAZZ series Spring commenced with a most magical evening at The Wendouree Centre for Performing Arts. James Morrison and the JMA with special guest vocalist Adelina Martinez performed the final stop of an Australian tour, having performed in Newcastle the previous evening. Fans of James Morrison not deterred by the cool conditions were treated to an amazing lineup of Jazz. James Morrison Academy Jazz Orchestra (JMAJO) is the performing ensemble of the internationally acclaimed James Morrison Academy (JMA) program. This twenty-something piece big Jazz band concert features standards made famous by international Jazz greats, original compositions and arrangements by Australian artists and new work written by current and former JMA students.

There’s nothing like the overwhelming rush of a big band playing live. James Morrison manages to weave exquisite performances on trumpet, flugelhorn horn, trombone and piano, with witty anecdotes, interesting Jazz insights and inspirational direction to an orchestra of developing Jazz talent.

James’ dedication to the art of Jazz is awesome, his energy is infectious. JAZZ series Spring kicked off with a truly great Jazz entertainer.
